H1-B Temporary Professional Worker
Please note that the following information is meant to be used only by Florida State
University faculty, staff, students, and potential students of Florida State University
and only in the context of international visits to FSU specifically. It is not intended
to be used and should not be construed as general legal advice.
H1-B nonimmigrant status allows foreign nationals to work for specific employers in positions that require the minimum of a bachelor's degree in a specialty occupation. The Florida State University International Center submits H-1B temporary professional worker petitions to U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services on behalf of foreign faculty, researchers, and professional staff who are offered employment by the university, or on behalf of employees currently working for the university in another nonimmigrant status with the appropriate employment authorization.
Please refer to the links on the menu on the left side of this page for more information, or to download and print the appropriate forms that departments submit to the International Center to initiate the preparation and submission of the H-1B petition.
