Global Photo Contest
1st Annual Global Photo Contest “Capture the World”
open to all FSU students, faculty, staff and alumni.
Prizes will be awarded to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners. Winners will be announced at the International Bazaar on March 21st, 2009. These winners will also have their work enlarged and displayed in the new International Center Gallery in the Spring 2009. Some of the winning photos may be used in FSU publications.
Deadline for entries: Friday, March 6th, 2009 by 5pm.

WHO MAY ENTER?
3 CATEGORIES:
- FSU International Students, Scholars, Faculty and Alumni (photographs MUST be taken WITHIN the U.S. borders)
- FSU Study, Volunteer or Service Learning Aboard Students (Photos MUST be taken OUTSIDE the U.S. borders)
- FSU Faculty, Staff and Alumni - domestic (Photos MUST be taken OUTSIDE the U.S. borders)
WHAT MAY BE ENTERED?
- Entries must be the original work of the entrant.
- Entries should display various cultural aspects (people, nature, buildings, traditions, societal changes etc) BE CREATIVE!
- A maximum of 3 photographs per entrant may be entered.
- No entrant may submit photos in more than one category.
- Entries from faculty, staff, and individuals involved in competition planning or judging, and entries from professional photographers, are not eligible to win, place, or receive prizes although they may earn honorable mention.
SUBMISSION PRODEDURES and FORMAT:
- Entries must be in print format. Prints must be 8” x 10” in size.
- All prints entered must have the following information on the reverse side (preferably on an adhesive label):
- The original title of the work (be creative!)
- The complete name and city/country of the photographer
- When the photograph was taken (month, if known, and year)
- Where the photograph was taken (city or region, and country)
Entries must be accompanied by the official Entry Form, fully completed and signed by entrant. A separate entry form must be completed for each photograph submitted.
Winners may be contacted and asked for more information about the winning entries. Such additional background information might be incorporated into such things as contest displays and later publications.
RETURN POLICY: Competition organizers will have the right to keep the entries. Winners will be contacted and may be required to supply the original negatives or slides of the winning works from which high quality reproductions will then be made for display purposes. These originals will be returned as soon as possible. Although caution will be exercised with all work, we are not responsible for lost or damaged entries.
COPYRIGHT POLICY: Rights are retained by the artist. By signing the entry form and submitting it, however, entrants are agreeing that they grant the Florida State University and the FSU International Center royalty-free use of submitted photographs in displays and in print and electronic publications. The artist will be fully credited in all such displays and publications.
JUDGING CRITERIA : Entries will be judged on the quality of the image, artistic expressiveness, and creativity. Judges also reserve the right to consider geographic and thematic variety, as well as relevance to the mission of the FSU International Center, in selecting the winners. All decisions of the judges are final. The competition organizers reserve the right to disqualify entries which do not conform to the stated contest rules and criteria.
